When I was looking for a builder for my home extension, I asked around for recommendations and most people had either a horror story to tell, or a falling out with their chosen builder. I met with a few builders with whom I didn’t feel confident for various reasons and was getting very worried. I was then introduced to Chris from 4 x 4 Carpentry. Right from the beginning he was helpful, courteous and professional. Chris, Theo and their team took on my job and I couldn’t be happier. Every single tradesman, from the youngest apprentice to the most experienced, were perfectionists at their jobs, absolute gentlemen, and a pleasure to work with. Nothing was too much trouble. I didn’t realise how complicated it would be doing a home extension as an owner builder, and there were times I was completely overwhelmed by all the red tape, but Chris and Theo were always there to sort it out. 4 x 4 carpentry recently renovated our house, including recladding and insulating our entire house, aligning walls, replacing windows and doors, new external architraves and sills to all windows and doors, repairs and detailed timber work, painting of the house and internally laying a new hardwood floor, including levelling floors and new skirting.
Theo, Johnny and the team were a joy to work with throughout the renovation. We particularly appreciated their professionalism in the work and their attention to detail, the schedule and the budget. They treated the project as they would their own house and the pride and care in their workmanship was evident.
Every morning Theo and Johnny always explained each day’s work and answered all our questions. They planned and carried out every part of the job with care and attention, often suggesting improvements and were always willing to discuss ideas. At the end of each day the team ensured that the site remained tidy and they treated the rest of the house with respect.
The team dealt with changes during the job, brought about by unforeseen circumstances or new decisions by us, with patience and professionalism. All those who worked on the house were very courteous, polite and careful in their work. The other contractors including the painter they brought into the job were also professional and great to deal with.
We thoroughly recommend 4 x 4 Carpentry and, in fact, we have told family, friends and neighbours and everyone who admires our house about them and the quality of their workmanship.
We are delighted with their work and would definitely use them again.
